Fort Cobb, OK, April 8, 2016 – Sherry Jackson from Caddo Kiowa Technology Center was recently chosen to present at the national Project Lead The Way (PLTW) conference – PLTW Summit 2016 – in Indianapolis in March.

PLTW, a nonprofit organization that provides a transformative learning experience for K-12 students and teachers across the U.S., serves more than 8,000 schools and 1 million students. Caddo Kiowa Technology Center offers PLTW’s Biomedical Science and Engineering programs.

PLTW Summit 2016 gathered more than 1,500 attendees (including educators, students, and leaders from the business and government sectors) on March 20-23, 2016. In over 150 presentations, presenters share strategies and best practices on empowering and engaging students to develop the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in their careers and lives. Attendees learned innovative approaches for making classroom learning relevant, engaging, and hands-on, as well as connected to industry and community partners to learning.

“Professional development is a cornerstone of the transformational learning experience PLTW provides to students and teachers across the United States,” said PLTW Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer Dorothy Gorman. “We set the bar high for PLTW Summit presentations to provide unique learning opportunities for our guests. When we reviewed the hundreds of proposals, we were blown away by the innovative ideas and array of experiences they represented. PLTW Summit guests will enjoy the chance to network, collaborate, get inspired by, and learn from these outstanding workshops.”

PLTW Summit 2016 also included an impressive list of keynote speakers:

  • Daymond John, entrepreneur and television personality on the ABC show Shark Tank;
  • Marion Blakey, president and CEO of Rolls-Royce North America and former administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration;
  • John Urschel, mathematician and Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman; and
  • Jason Silva, futurist and host of National Geographic’s Brain Games.
